Narration:-
“
Do not mention my name. I have a goal (not purpose) for my life. I sometimes feel what will happen if I am not able to achieve it. I sometimes feel sad that my parents spend so much on me and my studies and the result will be null. I also feel why are studies given so much importance? Can there never be a good job which does not required good mind and intellect? How do I eradicate this fear of mine of not meeting my goal?”
“I AM UNIQUE. THANK YOU for telling me that I am not what my marks are or what others treat me or say me.”
More:-
“Your questions about the purpose of life really made me feel uncomfortable. Every waking moment, sleeping, studying I thought of it. “

Well, Well This is oe of the most common problems most of us grown-ups have faced at some time or the other, good / bad in studies making no difference.
Ther are certain things that we all love to do – most likely because we a re not forced to do it and also probably beccause we are not told how to do it. Say, playing games. Most of us enjoy it because there are no tags of performance etc. This is the problem with the way you are asked to study and what you are told to study.
The issue about the importance being given to the studies. See it remains one of the best ways to make a good career in adult life and every paren or teacher would want the youngsters to do well – sometimes not realising the pressure that it builds. This pressure is not all bad. The real world is very harsh at times and requier us to handle a lot of pressure.
As regards the fear of meeting the goals. The basic thing remains that one has to set realistic goals in a pragmatic way. One must take help (I do that quite a bit) to set these goals. Parents and teachers can always help.
A golden Rule I follow – I never confuse the aspirations with the goals. Goals are ment to be acheieved realistically while aspirations is what is desired.
Take your time to set your goals and then sit down to study. What goals you achieve or not achieve will help you to learn a few lessons.
This is what some folks call a win-win situation.

I am glad this article has provoked responses and this is a first in a series of articles.
Our kids in schools are largely unheard and not properly cared for as regards their emotional health.
There are many pained hearts out there and there is very little help that they get.
I am pained myself to learn about a state of helplessness that they go through.

hi X ,why studies are giving so importance its becoz-
ans-its because u r living in a small town of a country like india…having population over 100 billion…and the rule of lamarck always follows here “SURVIAL OF THE FITTEST”
in order to become ‘fit’ u have to go through (and pass)a long 15year hurdle called education system of india…all parents like to c thr kids on the top, they wanna see that thr son is a CEO or a CFO of some xyz firm..so they spend heavily even in this scenario of 15% galloping inflation…to make thr son to stand firmly in tsunami of competitions they wanna confirm that thr son/duagh dosen’t face the same kind of pblms they faced in thr childhood..
u have to compete if u wish to have a “good job” …now a good job depends over one’s view towards the work..
even a sweeper may love his work while a CEO could get sick of the revenue generation…
if look the surroundings around u , u find the educated ppl doing cleaner office work while others uneducated work in the labs…now here the difference of studies come..just study few years with full determination and u get to rest for life ..may b thats ur parents wanna say to..
determination counts to be very imp stuff in life what ever u do,make sure u do it with full interest..
i remembr i was a guy like u…in 7-8th at shishya school (selakui),it was my exams time and i used to be kind of careless boy..that evening my papa,(a maths lecturer and a principal,) called me n tried to make me undrstand “AGAR KISI KARYA ME PARANGAT HONA HAI TO US KARYA ME SAMPURN SAMARPAN HONA JARURI HAI”
that means that if u wish to be pioneer in any work u need to be completely determined towards it…and one can be fully determined towards his work only if he takes some interest into it..i didn’t took it seriously at that time and i tell u very frankly ‘mujhe aaj iska matlab samaj araha hai’
if u don’t have intt in studies, fine try something else u need to discover urself 1st ..u will have to explore ur hobbies, interests and then implement over it..
look at indian captain ms dhoni he is just 11pass he still rocks,
look at govinda bolywood star he jus 6th fail,
ex vice prez bhairo singh shaikawat he is 10th psss,
there are numerous examples..who made thr way apart studies
BUT THERE IS ALWAYS A “BUT”
they had a spirit a spirit to work hard..to win..
remembr there r no short cuts to success these ppl had interests in thr fields but had the will to do something to shine…
in the movie rang de bsanti thr was a statement of khan”school aur college ki chaar diwari k ander hum jindagi ko nachate hai aur ,school, college ki chaardiwari k bahar JINDAGI HUME NACHATI HAI”
it explains the condn of students of today,,,
u know dear X
sometimes being urself is the hardest thing to do..going along the crowd may see,m easy but being an individual may be more rewarding ..dont make ur choices based on crowd make it on ur feelings ur values ovr ur needs…
now dear X its so long now…!

This perceptive teenager has obviously been impacted to do some serious thinking on Purpose of Life. Initiation of such a out of the box thinking is no mean achievement on part of the facilitator. How to impact more teenagers as effectively is something that we need to formalize as part of the life skills curriculum. This thinker needs encouragement not guidance to discover why he/she is doing what he/she is doing

The young fellow is asking some of the very important questions which most of us have as kids but we do not really ask them. All he needs is support and guidance so that he himself is able to answer them, It is very important that such questions are answered otherwise he can be a misdirected soul. Its amazing to see young kids having such perception and we as DYC’ians are doing a great job.
