I would suggest that man has made religion, not God. It is man's attempt to reach God, some more sophisticated than others but surely something that arises from what would be a natural yearning for that which is higher and that which makes sense of the vastness and awesomeness of creation. Better than religion would be God's attempt at reaching us! But having said that I cringe to think that He may already have done that and we have responded by making a religion out of it! And can I use the word "attempt" for surely such a word cannot be used to express any workings of the God of creation??? What He does , He surely does. There can be no room for mere attempt. A healthy perspective.

I think God is not selfish or suffering from some attention deficiency and He has made religion a mode for people to praise Him and sacrifice in His name. He wants us to love each other and enjoy the beauty of this entire universe.We are too tiny creatures to match His glory and no one can be Him. Iam not against religion.
