I agree with Manish too ! Indian movies mostly lack reality and a sense of relevance in their essence !
I want to direct a movie at some point in time :) !

U r right Girija. Despite of so many movies made in India so very few are worth watching. Its surprising! Some good movies are
not promoted well, so they come and go silently. One such movie is Chal Chalein released couple of months ago. I think its a good attempt by the first time director to address the issue of parental pressure on
students to get high marks, go on the beaten path of doct, engineer & ias etc.

Well some people are just not used to the environment where excellence is expected.
That's true largely for most Indians !

The article was well researched and written well.
And I didn't know that you were so interested in Indian movies and you were frequenting rediff and the like to read movie reviews !

Girija has thrown many things in the pot bringing out the post beautifully. What is creativity is relative. Herd of songs like "The Jamaican Farewell". Well many famous singers have done the song. Most of them have been called a hit, even though each has a slight variation.
As long as the people are happy, it doesn't matter - one school of thought.
As long as it is original, it again doesn't matter - another school of thought.
As long as it serves the purpose of entertainment, original or otherwise, makes people happy or sad, it once again doesn't matter - yet another school of thought and mine too.

Bottom line - some things are ment to be merely enjoyed. Enjoy if you can, dump it if you don't!
