Sadly, many of us keep convincing ourselves, “Someday I’ll be happy.”

We tell ourselves ‘I’ll be happy when I will be a president, when I will be doing so and so service, get a particular mobile phone’ etc. We convince ourselves that life will be better after we get married, then another, then another, on and on and on we go with our wish list.

Meanwhile, life keeps moving forward. The truth is, there’s no better time to be happy than right now. If not now, when?

Your life will always be filled with challenges. It’s best to admit this to yourself and decide to be

happy anyway.

A wise man said, “For a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin – real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be got through first, some unfinished invention, a debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life.”

Between joy and happiness, what’s your pick ??

    • Hari Mohan

I will choose happiness, as I believe that joy will itself follow where there is happiness.

Oh, actually I didn’t mean to be asking you in particular, I just sort of let it out in the wild for all.

I believe joy is beyond us to pick anyways because that is God’s work in our hearts. The profoundness of joy for me, far exceeds, the momentary thrill of happiness.

But then, God always has a Midas touch.

    Hey,
Its very true that life will always be full of challenges but that is not something completely beyond our control..it is just the way we look at things. This reminds me of the qoute which says ” achievement is in being and not in doing”. one day i’ll do this and then i’ll be happy is a momentary state of mind and life iam sure is not just about that.
It is about joy which is a much wider term. It includes happiness and contentment and a sense of fulfilment. Life is about joy and the divine feeling of being closer to god. I think happiness lies in being and realising our presence in this vast beautiful creation of god.
So i guess the day we realise it, is the “” someday”" we’ll be happy for sure.

Happiness is not a milestone or the result of reaching a milestone. It is not something that comes out as an offshoot of reaching ‘somewhere’ or becoming ‘something’.happiness for me is an accompaniment in my journey, a companion in the various processes I am doing. being happy makes me content, confident. At any given time ‘being happy’ makes the journey worthwhile & brings out the best in me.
