Sunitha Krishnan has dedicated her life to rescuing women and children from sex slavery, a multimilion-dollar global market.

In this courageous talk, she tells three powerful stories, as well as her own, and calls for a more humane approach to helping these young victims rebuild their lives.

Have seen this video multiple times before and each time it shakes up something deep inside. Is it anger, disgust or commiseration I can’t say but sitting in my cozy and comfortable room I just don’t feel I have enough right to comment about it.
Leading a life where my issues are at times what shoes to wear or cribbing about a friend being mean, I can’t even begin to imagine being sold by a parent for food or worse pornography. How unwanted am I if my parents choose to throw me away?
And then you are thrown around for the rest of your life by one person or the other. Like she said, it may not be the rape or act that hurts so much than the reaction or trauma that is inflicted by the society later. We all know these facts and we know its not their fault but will we accept a victim in our family or our lives when we come across one. I will be a hypocrite if i say I won’t hesitate.
Despite having grown up in most secure and safe possible environment, as a woman I believe that there are few men you can never escape. Like she said, they are mostly family and friends, who have a look or a touch you hate even if you are too young to understand much. It reminds me of Shefali Chaya’s character from monsoon wedding. But most of us choose to stay silent. That is something I think needs to be changed, coz these are few of the men who go out for a hunt and catch hold of one of these small kids who are too young to understand and resist.

This video is well worth the time taken to view it. Human trafficking is a subject close to many dyc-ers and we have other documentaries and clips for those who are concerned and wanting to make something happen. Selling of the Innocents is another video which we have shown here with growing awareness but still waiting for more people to become actively involved in doing something about this anti-human business
